Korea-UK conference opens on Wednesday

An annual conference dedicated to knowledge exchanges between Korea and the United Kingdom and to celebrate former President Yun Posun’s historical connections with his alma mater, the University of Edinburgh, will kick off Wednesday in Seoul.

The 3rd Yun Posun Memorial Symposium, hosted by the Yun Posun Memorial Foundation and the University of Edinburgh, will run through Friday with various lectures and debate sessions about the development of Korea-U.K. ties.

Some 150 people including British Ambassador to Korea Charles Hay and the president of the University of Edinburgh, Timothy O’Shea, will participate. Sponsors include the British Embassy in Korea, the British Council and the Korea Foundation.

The British ambassador is expected to make a speech Wednesday at the opening ceremony at Yun’s former residence.
