Leading telecommunication provider KT held a forum Thursday to discuss the latest status of cloud computing service and development.
Dubbed “Cloud Frontier 2015,” the event held at the Lotte Hotel in Jamsil, southern Seoul, attracted some 800 people from IT companies such as Intel and Hewlett-Packard.
The telecom company introduced a cloud system currently used by its corporate clients including budget carrier Eastar Jet and Neowiz Games.
With the theme “Where forward-thinking on the cloud technology happens,” the company explored how the cloud system helps businesses and the latest trends in the industry involving Big Data and the Internet of Things.
To go beyond its core business of providing networks for cellular and fixed line phones, the telecom company launched cloud services both for individual users and corporate clients.
KT’s cloud service entered Japan in 2013 in partnership with SoftBank Telecom Corporation.
The two companies established an internet data center in Gimhae, South Gyeongsang to offer cloud computing services to Japanese companies needing a reliable data storage center.
The company announced Thursday that it will enter the United States market to offer the service.
