Hanwha Corporation held a ceremony Wednesday to mark its donation of a 12-kilowatt photovoltaic power generator to Chunyangwon, a child’s welfare facility in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, along with the Community Chest of Korea and World Vision.

The power generator is used to tap solar power for the facility.

The company is in its fifth year of a Happy Sunshine campaign to donate photovoltaic power generators to social welfare organizations nationwide. It has already donated equipment to 118 organizations. Starting with Chunyangwon, it plans to supply 28 organizations with solar power generators capable of producing 216 kilowatts of electricity by the end of this year.

This year, the campaign also started operating Happy Sunshine classes that teach elementary school students about the importance of environmentally friendly energy sources.

“The Happy Sunshine campaign is Hanwha’s primary philanthropic program dedicated to both social welfare in Korea and the promotion of eco-friendly policies,” the leader of Hanwha’s Daejeon business division said during the ceremony. “We hope this donation will prompt the public to pay more attention to environmental concerns [and environmentally friendly products].”
