BASEL, Switzerland - Roger Federer mastered Rafael Nadal in their first meeting for almost two years to win the Swiss Indoors final 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 on Sunday.

The top-seeded Federer ended a five-match losing streak against Nadal, including the last time they played for a title in May 2013.

Federer’s sixth title this season is also the seventh of his career at his hometown event in Basel.

Nadal still has a 23-11 career hold over Federer, including 14-7 in tournament finals. AP

Jang suspended and fined for abusive online chat

Catcher Jang Sung-woo was given a 50-game suspension by the KT Wiz on Monday and fined 20 million won for making controversial comments about players and coaches.

His salary will also be frozen for next season, the club said.

Jang came under fire after his ex-girl friend posted their private chat online which showed Jang blaming and verbally abusing people in the Korea Baseball Organization.

Separately on Monday, the KBO’s discipline committee said Jang will have to serve 120 hours of voluntary service for youth baseball education and a separate 120 hours of community service for his behavior.

Jang last month apologized for his comments, but the KBO said that the 25-year-old has violated the KBO code by demeaning the league and players.
