Big Bang re-signs with YG for a second time

테스트

K-pop boy group Big Bang has extended its contract with YG Entertainment, the agency said Monday.

Amid rumors that Big Bang would leave YG, the news surprised many industry insiders because it is rare for a musician to work with the same agency for years.

Big Bang broke into the music scene in 2006 and first renewed its contract with YG in 2011.

Yang Hyun-suk, the CEO of YG, which is home to musicians like Psy and 2NE1, told local online news agency Osen on Monday, “Big Bang has been in the music industry for nine years, but they are still evolving, and I want to work with them even after 20 years.”

Yang added that he is not worried about the possible absence of Big Bang members due to mandatory military service.

“Big Bang is doing a good job as a whole and as individuals. So it doesn’t really matter if one or two of them are not performing as part of the group [because of military service].”

Big Bang is slated to take part in the upcoming Melon Music Awards that will be held on Saturday at Seoul Olympic Park in Bangyi-dong, southeastern Seoul.
