Special passes offered to boost ship travel, tourism

In a bid to promote the use of passenger ships and tourism, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries is to issue a special pass that allows young people, aged 25 or less, to travel for up to 10 days on passenger boats along the Korean southwest coastal areas. The ticket, called “Badaro,” costs 30,000 won ($25.62). There will also be a seven-day pass for 20,000 won.

The ministry will test the system starting from December through February next year and will extend the coverage by the second half of next year. The Badaro will allow ticket holders to enjoy 50 percent discounts when using boats connecting Wando, South Jeolla, and Jeju.
