The album is titled “Chiljip Psy-da,” which means “This is Psy’s seventh album” in Korean and is also a pun on the popular carbonated beverage Chilsung Cider. Chil means seven.
“I worked on the dance tune ‘Daddy’ for seven seasons, although I’m not Beethoven,” Psy said. “It took me a lot of time to come to myself after I did a performance for a college festival earlier this year, and then I thought to myself I should do music that I’d like to do without caring about other people around me.”
The new album has nine tracks, and the singer collaborated with various musicians, from rapper-producer Zion.T to Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas.
Psy will unveil his newest song today at the Mnet Asian Music Awards in Hong Kong.
