Yoon Mi-rae’s new track tops music charts

R&B diva Yoon Mi-rae’s newest digital single, “This Love,” has swept major online music charts, pushing aside heavyweights like Psy and Exo.

As of noon on Monday, “This Love” topped music portals including Melon, Mnet, Genie, Soribada, Bugs and Naver Music.

Since the songs of top K-pop acts such as Exo, Psy and Zico, as well as original soundtrack songs from the tremendously popular drama series “Reply 1988,” had dominated real-time online music charts until the release of “This Love,” local entertainment news outlets are reporting that Yoon has proven her clout in the country’s music scene.

The singer began her career at the age of 16 as a rapper in the hip-hop group Uptown. But Yoon, also known as Tasha, has more recently been singing R&B, with well-known tracks including “Touch Love,” “Memories” and “As Time Goes By.”

She also performs as part of hip-hop trio MFBTY with rappers Tiger JK and Bizzy.
