Prosecutors start probe after complaint from Lotte’s Shin

An investigation has been launched into Lotte Group Chairman Shin Dong-bin after his father, Lotte founder Shin Kyuk-ho, filed a lawsuit against his second son and his Japanese executives earlier this month, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office said on Sunday. Shin filed a complaint against his son Shin Dong-bin; Takayaki Tsukuda, CEO of Japan’s Lotte Operations; and Masamoto Kobayashi, CEO of Lotte Capital, for illegally excluding him from all management in Lotte businesses.

In the complaint, Shin said, “Shin Dong-bin and his executives excluded me from management work and fired me from the chairman post, and also took the key of a cabinet that has my legal seal.”
