British America Tobacco Korea, the leading foreign tobacco company, announced that its Marketing Director Erik Stoel will be replacing Guy Meldrum as the company’s new CEO on Jan. 1.

According to the company, Stoel, who is Dutch, is an expert in marketing.

Stoel has been building his expertise since joining BAT in 1995, and has worked in other global markets including Eastern Europe and the Middle East. Before joining BAT Korea in 2012, he worked in Malaysia.

“I am honored to have been given the opportunity to continue working with such an outstanding group of leaders here in BAT Korea,” Stoel said. “Because BAT Korea is a strategically important market for the BAT Group, we will make sure that we continue our journey for growth by providing Korean consumers with innovative and high quality products that meet with their trendy preferences.

We will also continue to strengthen the capabilities of our BAT Korea headquarters and the Sacheon factory with the aim of growing our export volumes. As such, BAT Korea will continue to contribute to the growth of the Korean economy.”
