[Sports Top 10 News] 2. Korea wins inaugural Premier 12 baseball tournament
There had been concerns about how Korea would perform in the inaugural Premier 12 baseball tournament, but the national team led by manager Kim In-sik had dramatic victories, to the delight of sports fans in November.
Although top players in Major League Baseball (MLB) were not in the competition, the new quadrennial tournament by the World Baseball Softball Confederation featured the top 12 ranked nations.
The highlight of the tournament was Korea’s dramatic 4-3 victory over Japan in the semifinal, in which Korea scored four runs in the final ninth inning to beat Japan at the Tokyo Dome. In the final, Korea blanked the United States 8-0 to become the first champion of the Premier 12 tournament.
