Jang Keun-suk to launch charity

Actor Jang Keun-suk said he would launch his own charity later this year.
The 29-year-old actor told Yonhap News during a recent interview, “I thought about making a foundation five years ago and now I think it’s time to put the plan into action because I turn 30 this year.”
Jang has been donating to various organizations for the past 10 years.
Last year, he donated 1.2 billion won ($1 million) to Hanyang University, from which he graduated years ago, and 150 million won to victims of the earthquake in Japan in 2011.
He also sponsors 150 children living in the low-income countries through World Vision, a charitable organization, and the actor and his fans regularly visit an orphanage located in Yejang-dong, Jung District, central Seoul.
But he fell from grace last January after he was embroiled in a tax evasion scandal.
“I got hurt a lot because of all the exaggerated stories about me, but I could get over it thanks to my fans who believed in me,” he said.
“I have never violated the law. I have been making money in fair ways and I will do so in the future. And I hope I can practice sharing with the money I make.”
