Delivery app Baedal Minjok passes trillion won in 2015

Transactions on delivery app Baedal Minjok surpassed 1 trillion won ($821 million) last year.

According to the company, the number of transactions made through the app increased 58 percent from the previous year. With an increasing number of households utilizing food tech for meals, total trade volume on the app has been rising since 2012 at an average 87 percent every year.

The app’s popularity has led the company to expand its menus.

“Baemin Fresh” was recently created to deliver fresh food such as daily banchan (side dishes), soup and salad. “Baemin Riders” delivers food, from lobsters and handmade burgers to cafe lattes, from renowned restaurants in districts like Gangnam and Songpa. Many food chains also use the app as a marketing platform.

The app is operated by Woowahan Brothers, the nation’s No.1 food-tech company.
