K-pop idols on special police team

Donghae and Siwon of K-pop boy group Super Junior, and Max, a member of TVXQ, are fulfilling their military service in a promotional team of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.

The police agency said Tuesday that the three K-pop stars were recently placed in the team.

Such teams often host events for enlisted police and perform for them.

Donghae began his military service last October, and Max, also known as Changmin, and Siwon joined their colleague a month later.

Super Junior debuted in the music scene in 2005, and many of its members, now in their mid-30s, are currently fulfilling their mandatory military duties.

Before his enlistment, Donghae launched D&E, a sub-group, with fellow member Eunhyuk. As for Siwon, he received rave reviews for his portrayal of a fashion magazine reporter in the popular drama series “She Was Pretty” (2015).

Max debuted in 2004 as a member of TVXQ and amassed huge popularity at home and abroad.

Donghae will finish his service in July 2017, while Siwon and Max will complete theirs by August 2017. By Kim Hyun-ji
