Exo wins big at Gaon Chart K-pop Awards

K-pop sensation Exo has swept another round of music awards, this time at the Fifth Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards held on Wednesday in Seoul.

Thanks to their huge number of fans, the boy group was the run-away leader in total albums sold last year. The group’s second official album, “EXODUS,” and its repackaged version surpassed one million copies sold last year, after EXO’s first album did so the year before.

At the awards ceremony Wednesday, Exo was honored for having their second album rank No. 1 for three quarters last year, further cementing their place atop the music scene.

The group expressed its gratitude to fans, saying, “Thanks to the award, we were able to entertain a great start for 2016. It is a privilege to be able to make others happy while doing what we love.”

The nine-member group is now in the middle of their North American concert tour “Exo from Planet #2 The EXO’luXion Tour.” They will hold their next concert in Chicago on Friday.
