KCON heading to UAE next month

KCON, the five-year-old Korean culture exhibition, will be held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, next month.

KCON organizer CJ E&M announced that many K-pop stars like Taeyeon of Girls’ Generation, KyuHyun of Super Junior, the Bangtan Boys, SS301 and Monsta X will be performing at the March 25 event.

KCON is a festival that lets people overseas experience Korean music, drama, food and many other cultural elements first-hand. Previous events over the past four years were held in the United States and Japan, spreading Korean culture across the globe.

The event will take place at the biggest outdoor venue in Abu Dhabi, the Du Arena. The venue will be filled with diverse content for fans to try throughout the afternoon, followed by performances by K-pop singers and groups and fan meets.

“The K-pop artists’ presences will help boost status of K-pop and spread the word throughout the Middle East,” CJ E&M said, adding, “Middle Eastern countries have significant cultural and physical barriers for K-pop artists to pave the way on their own. KCON may be just the right opportunity for them.”
