Jumbos beat Hansae to end seven game losing streak

No. 4 Incheon Korea Air Jumbos finally ended their seven-game losing streak after defeating Seoul Woori Card Hansae on Wednesday and added hope for the playoffs.

Pavel Vasilievitch Moroz led the Jumbos with 30 points while Sin Young-soo added 10 points.

Owing to the win, the Jumbos narrowed the gap with the No. 3 Daejeon Samsung Bluefangs to 5 points.

In the men’s V-League, the top three teams in the league advance to the playoff. In a case where the point difference between No.3 and No.4 is less than three points, the two teams play an extra game with the No.3 team given a free set in the match. This means if No.4 wins the second set, then the two teams play third set for a tie breaker.

The Jumbos will play No.6 Gumi KB Insurance Stars on Feb. 27.

Djokovic earns 700th career match win at Dubai tourney

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates - Novak Djokovic earned his 700th career match win at the expense of Tunisian wild card Malek Jaziri 6-1, 6-2 at the Dubai Championships on Wednesday.

Djokovic, who joined the tour a decade ago, has a 700-146 career match record.

He is one of three active players to reach 700 wins, the others being Roger Federer with 1,067, and Rafael Nadal on 775.

Djokovic has won the Dubai Championship four times, but lost to Federer in the last two years.

In the first set, Djokovic lost only two points in four service games.

“Solid match and performance,” Djokovic said. “I will take the positives for tomorrow.”

Djokovic will play sixth-seeded Feliciano Lopez of Spain in the quarterfinals. AP
