GFriend stand tall in first place with ‘Rough’

After recently marking their one-year anniversary, the K-pop girl group GFriend continued their dominance of the top spots in three separate categories of the Gaon Chart for the second consecutive week.

The girl group’s new song, “Rough,” with its upbeat tune and sentimental lyrics, ranked No. 1 on the digital, download and streaming charts.

The song also became the longest first-place holder on the music chart among all songs released so far this year.

And the six-member girl group’s success didn’t end there but extended to music TV shows.

Coming in first on “The Show” on MTV, “Show! Champion” on MBC Music, “M Countdown” on Mnet, “Music Bank” on KBS and “Inkigayo” on SBS, the group is pulling off an amazing feat considering their short tenure in the K-pop scene.

GFriend debuted last January with the album “Season of Glass.” The rookie girl group made a lingering impression during a performance last September in which members slipped and fell eight times because the stage was wet. Their tenacity generated much praise from not just Korean fans but the global community.
