Carmaker Volvo showed its new XC90 sport utility vehicle at Dongdaemun Design Plaza in central Seoul on Wednesday, its Korean debut after the car was released last May. Volvo emphasized its human-centric functions and Scandinavian design. The car offers about 20 safety systems, including enhanced run-off-the-road protection and a large animal detection function. The company offers a five-year or 100,000-kilometer (62,000-mile) warranty and supplies certain auto parts for free during the warranty period for domestic consumers. Three engine trims are being introduced in the Korean market: diesel D5 AWD, gasoline T6 AWD and plug-in hybrid T8. The diesel engine D5 AWD offers 235 horsepower and 48.9 kilograms-meter (353.7 pound-feet) of torque. The sticker price ranges from 80.3 million won ($65,000) to 137.8 million won, which is the lowest among competing models in the category, the company said. Main competitors include the Audi Q7 and BMW X5. [NEWSIS]
