LG Electronics sells 150M washers in last 47 years

As of February, LG Electronics has sold 150 million washing machines over the last 47 years, the company announced Sunday. Since 1969, when the company launched the country’s first washing machine “Baekjo,” LG Electronics has sold a variety of models in 160 countries. The company started exporting front-loading washers to the United States in 2003 and accelerated its sales of washers abroad. “LG is writing the history of washing machines,” said Cho Sung-jin, president of Home Appliance & Air Solution Division of the company.

From 2007 to 2015, LG’s washers were the best sellers American washing machine market, the company said.

Over four decades, LG Electronics has achieved significant technological advances. These have included including the Turbo Wash in 2012 and the Twin Wash in 2015. LG will start selling the Twin Wash model in China, South America and Europe this year.
