Orions bowl over Egis in the second game of KBL finals
Goyang Orion Orions cruised past Jeonju KCC Egis 99-71 on Monday in the second game of the KBL
finals.
Aaron Haynes had a double-double for the Orions with 19 points and 10 rebounds while Joe Jackson
added 18 points and 9 assists. Lee Seung-hyun also put 19 points on the board for the Orions.
The Orions finished the second quarter leading the game by five points at 48-43. Once the third
quarter began, the Orions scored in a series of fast breaks to widen the point gap with the Egis to
57-43. By the end of the third quarter, the Orions were ahead 73-56.
The Orions drained ten three pointers during Monday’s game. Andre Emmett of the Egis was contained
by the Orions forward Kim Dong-uk and scored only 14 points.
The Orions and the Egis will play their third game of the series today at 7 p.m. in Goyang.
ARCHERY
Kim and Choi top 3rd round of Olympics team selection
Kim Woo-jin and Choi Mi-sun topped the third round of the archery national team selection match for
the Olympics.
In men’s archery, Kim placed first in the selection match for the Rio Olympics that took place from
March 15 to 22 at Donghae Public Stadium after amassing 70.5 points. Topping the ranking from early
on, Kim stayed within the top three even towards the end of the match from the 7th to 11th rounds. Im
Dong-hyun, looking to make it to his fourth career Olympics, placed second aggregating 58.5 points.
In women’s archery, it was world ranking No.1 Choi that grabbed first place after scoring 70 points.
Ki Bo-bae, gold medalist from the London Olympics, was in eighth place until the sixth round, when
she eventually took enough points to place second.
The top eight men’s and women’s archers will gather at the Taeneung Training Center tomorrow. Those
who place in the top three at the tryout matches from April 1 to 5 and April 15 to 19 will qualify
for the Olympics this summer.
