Wonder Girls’ Yubin files lawsuit over rumors
Yubin, a member of the K-pop group Wonder Girls, has filed a lawsuit against the disseminator of libelous rumors that recently targeted many female celebrities, including herself.The singer’s management agency, JYP Entertainment, announced Tuesday that the star has submitted a defamation suit to the prosecution on Monday.
The rumors that went public recently involved an alleged list of celebrities who have performed sexual favors. The alleged list included not only singers but also some top actresses like Song Hye-kyo, Kang So-ra and Shin Se-kyung.
In response to the diatribe, the agencies of the targeted celebrities reacted strongly, mentioning the possibility of taking legal action. JYP as well said in a press release March 19 that Yubin and the agency would file a suit and grant no settlement to the culprit.
“We categorically deny that there is any truth to the content of the groundless rumor surrounding Yubin,” JYP said. “We are currently compiling the evidence and planning to follow the necessary legal procedures to punish the culprit.”
