The JoongAng Ilbo-CSIS Forum 2016 will kick off at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) headquarters in Washington, D.C. on May 3.

This annual forum organized by the JoongAng Ilbo and CSIS, the American foreign policy think tank, will have the theme “Exploring a New Paradigm on the Korean Peninsula.”

Experts on foreign affairs and security will participate including Wendy Sherman, former U.S. undersecretary of state for political affairs; Kurt Campbell, former assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific affairs; Robert Einhorn, former special advisor for nonproliferation and arms control to the secretary of state; U.S. Ambassador to Korea Mark Lippert; former Korean Defense Minister Kim Tae-young; Suh Hoon, former Korean National Intelligence Service deputy director; and Ahn Ho-young, Korean ambassador to the United States.

The sixth year of the forum is expected to address such issues as how the next American president will deal with North Korea’s nuclear and missile provocations, which is expected to be an issue in the U.S. presidential campaign.

This is the first time that the forum, which has been hosted in Seoul, will take place in Washington, D.C.
