Popular ‘Descendants’ to get Chinese remake
“The only thing certain at this point is that the drama will be remade into a Chinese version,” said the distributor of the drama, NEW. “We will make a deal with a company with best the proposal and conditions.”
Reportedly, NEW is in search of a potential partner among Chinese media companies. The Korean version is already hugely popular in China.
The drama, meanwhile, was under fire again for excessive product placement on the 13th episode, which aired on Wednesday.
One contested scene featured the two main characters kissing in a driving car. The problematic scene sparked criticisms for condoning dangerous driving in an attempt to highlight the car’s self-driving feature.
The drama will air its final episode on Thursday.
