Naver’s app now offers translation in 9 languages

Portal service provider Naver’s real-time streaming service app called “V” now offers translation in nine languages including English, Chinese, Spanish and Vietnamese, according to the company on Thursday. Naver said that its automatic translation service will help the company attract more users from across the world.

Japanese, Portuguese and Indonesian were some of the five languages that are newly added.

The app reached over 380 million views within eight months of its launch, the company said.

Naver added that some 94 percent of its users can now enjoy video on demand services without having to worry about language difficulties.

Users can click a language icon located in the upper-right corner of the screen to select from translation options.

Naver said automatic translation services will soon be available for its live streaming version as well.

Naver’s V has a total of 170 channels operated by individuals and each channel has on average more than a million views.

The company said it plans to develop a system to allow users to participate in making their own translated version of captions by this year.
