Lotte Duty Free courts big crowds of Chinese tourists

Lotte Duty Free will invite some 30,000 tourists from China, Japan and Thailand to Korea from April through June, the company said on Tuesday.

The announcement came as a massive group tour involving China’s Aurance Group boosted sales of downtown duty-free shops last month. For the first round, Lotte Duty Free will hold a Family Festival at the Seoul Sports Complex in Jamsil, southern Seoul, where K-pop stars will appear. The duty-free operator has courted some 20,000 tourists for the event.

Lotte Duty Free will then go on to serve around 8,000 employees of the Nanjing Zhongmai Science and Technology Development Company, who will be visiting Seoul on an incentive tour from May 5 to 13.
