Sechs Kies hold surprise reunion concert

테스트

The ’90s K-pop boy group Sechs Kies made a surprise comeback on Thursday with all six members.

The performance was put together by the popular TV program “Infinite Challenge.” The show hosts had the group members wear eye masks to hide the number of fans that had gathered.

When the masks were taken off, the singers became choked up at the sight of nearly 6,000 excited fans in World Cup Stadium in Sangam-dong, western Seoul.

The concert was their first time on stage together since the group’s official break-up in 2000. In particular, the appearance on stage of Ko Ji-yong, a member whose participation was in constant doubt, fired up the fans. Since the break-up, Ko left the Korean entertainment scene and became an entrepreneur.

“I am getting very emotional and carried away,” Ko said during the concert. “I’ve been away from the scene almost 16 years, and I am reminiscent of the last time we as a group performed in front of a crowd.”

Sechs Kies enjoyed huge popularity in the 1990s. The group performed many of their old hits, including “Pom Saeng Pom Sa” and “Couple,” at the throwback concert.
