Jin takes silver in pistol finals for Games in Brazil

Olympic gold medal shooter Jin Jong-oh won silver in the 50-meter pistol test event for the Rio Games.

During the men’s 50-meter pistol finals on Wednesday in the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup, Jin shot 189.4 points to place second in the competition at the Olympics shooting center in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the venue for the Olympics competition.

This is the first medal in shooting that Korea earned during the test event that is taking place from April 16 to 25. Jin finished 12th in the 10-meter air pistol event on April 17, an unexpected result as Jin is the third ranked shooter in the world in the event. It is suspected that Jin was tired from the Olympics national team qualifiers that lasted for a month just before the test event as well as from jet lag. However, by placing second in the 50-meter pistol event, in which Jin is ranked fourth in the world according to the ISSF, the 37-year-old shooter once again demonstrated his position as one of the world’s most renowned shooters.

Evergrande stays in ACL after 2-0 win over Steelers

SEOUL, South Korea - Defending Asian Champions League champions Guangzhou Evergrande defended their chance at the title with a 2-0 win against the Pohang Steelers.
Ricardo Goulart gave the Chinese Super League club the lead in the 33rd minute and Gao Lin added another just after halftime, helping Evergrande to its first win of the tournament in Group H.?
The result ensured Australian club Sydney FC will advance to the Round of 16. Sydney leads the group with nine points and has two games to play, including a home match against the Urawa Red Diamonds on Wednesday. A win for Urawa in Sydney would eliminate both Evergrande and Pohang in the preliminary stage.
In Group G, Shanghai SIPG secured the top spot with a 3-1 win over Melbourne Victory.
Victory, which was eliminated from the Australian A-League playoffs last weekend after conceding two late goals to Brisbane Roar, is still in contention with six points ahead of its last game against 2008 champion Gamba Osaka.
