Hwang Chi-yeul to release song next week
Singer Hwang Chi-yeul is releasing a new song, the singer’s agency announced Thursday.
The upcoming song is the 33-year-old’s first since he gained significant recognition in the K-pop scene.
Despite his debut in 2007, Hwang struggled to stay in the spotlight until last year.
“Having been on the threshold for almost nine years, Hwang holds the dearest love and appreciation for his fans,” the agency said. “Upon fans’ requests for a new song, Hwang diligently prepared for the song even with his overwhelming schedule in China.”
The singer worked as a vocal instructor for idol groups before making his breakthrough on the Mnet music show “I Can See Your Voice” last March.
Hwang then joined the Chinese version of the musical competition show “I Am Singer,” during which he was nominated as an ambassador for Korean-Chinese cultural exchange. The Korean Wave star has just returned to Korea after finishing the show in third place.
The song is scheduled to be released on Tuesday.
