JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul

May 16 to Aug. 31: With the weather heating up, The Lounge, located on the first floor of the JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul, has released a variety of luxurious shaved ice desserts.

For two straight years now the Dom Shaved Ice has been a hot topic, and this year promises more of the same. Created by Executive Chef Stefano Di Salvo, the dessert is obviously influenced by his European touch, with strawberry salad accented with lemon zest and ice flowers sweetened with a raspberry passion fruit sorbet. It is the only champagne shaved ice dessert in the world, with the namesake ingredient, Dom Perignon Champagne 2005, sprinkled throughout. Cloud-shaped bundles of cotton candy rose petals and edible gold leaves adorn this exotic sweet confection, priced at 80,000 won, including 10 percent tax and service charge ($68). The Dom Shaved Ice serves two and includes a glass of Dom Perignon Champagne.

In addition to the Dom Shaved Ice, The Lounge has teamed up with the premium pearl brand Gaetano to bring you the Pearl Shaved Ice dessert, which combines classic French techniques with modern design.

Using the sublime natural form of the pearl as its influence, the Pearl Shaved Ice starts with a unique fruit salad and yoghurt ice cream, topped with passion fruit, citrus and fresh mint. Its most striking feature, however, is the giant chocolate pearl in the center, making it even more appealing and giving it a memorable flavor. Priced at 32,000 won, including 10 percent tax and service charge, the dessert once again easily serves two.
