Fans across the globe are celebrating Korean Wave star Lee Min-ho’s 10-year anniversary in some unimaginable ways.
Lee’s newly signed agency, MYM Entertainment, announced Wednesday that fans around the world have been sharing videos and various statements celebrating the star’s 10th anniversary in their respective cities.
Filmed in Myeong-dong and Gangnam District in Seoul, and in Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai and elsewhere, the videos by fans are being shared online.
At 10 a.m. Tuesday, fans held a social media event for uploading photos of themselves holding signs with celebratory messages for the star simultaneously from eight countries and regions: Korea, China, Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and the United Arab Emirates.
Fans from Indonesia, Taiwan and the Dominican Republic also got on board by uploading celebratory videos.
The anniversary also prompted fans to help those in need. In the honor of the anniversary of Lee’s debut on May 10, Chinese fans planted 510 trees. Fans from Hong Kong found a nursing home to help, and those from Mexico made a donation to cancer patients by selling plastic bottles.
“It’s been 10 years already,” the star said in response to his fans’ acts. “I thank the fans who made the anniversary more special with benevolent acts.”
The actor soared to fame after starring in the TV dramas “Boys Over Flowers” (2009), “City Hunter” (2011) and “The Heirs” (2013).
