Shinhan offers credit card aimed at young consumers

Shinhan Card, the nation’s largest credit card company, on Thursday launched an online-only card specifically aiming at mobile-savvy young people in their 20s and 30s. The online card can only be issued on mobile devices or on the Shinhan website. The new card series is called “YOLO i” using an abbreviation of the popular phrase “You only live once,” indicating that all membership benefits are focused on areas where the young people spend the most.

The card holders can get discounts from 10 to 20 percent in taxi rides, coffee shops, movie theaters, bakeries, convenient stores and social e-commerce websites like Coupang and Ticket Monster, as people in 20s and 30s showed largest credit card transactions at the six areas.
