The K Non-life Insurance’s newest mobile product targets hikers

The K Non-life Insurance launched a one-day mobile insurance product for hikers at 1,110 won ($0.92) on Tuesday. Many Koreans enjoy hiking over early summer weekends and the number of hiking-related accidents surges during the season as a result. Anyone can sign up by installing the insurer’s mobile app and make payments via credit card, Kakao Pay or through their mobile phone bill. The product fully covers all medical diagnoses, treatments and surgeries that follow damages like bone fractures. If hospitalized, the subscriber can get a daily payout of 30,000 won for up to six months, up to a maximum 100 million won. Hiking accidents surge during the spring and summer seasons to hit an average of 109 in May and 116 in June, up from 56.7 from January through April, according to the Korea National Park.
