Biannual conference looks at advances in quantum dots

Korea is hosting the 9th International Conference on Quantum Dots, a biannual forum for scientists from diverse research fields including physics, chemistry, materials science and engineering.
Chang Hyuk, director of Material Research Center at Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology, a corporate research center of Samsung Electronics, gave a lecture on the technology to this year’s participants.
According to Samsung Electronics, Chang said new technologies allowed people to enjoy higher-definition televisions and the quantum dot technology will continue to improve quality.
In this year’s event, experts from more than 30 countries attended and shared some 400 research journals. The five-day forum is being held at Ramada Plaza Jeju Hotel on Jeju Island, and will last until Friday. Samsung is betting big on the technology while LG Electronics focused on OLED technology.
