Comedian questioned over assault
Comedian Yoo Sang-moo appeared at the Gangnam Police Station on Tuesday morning to be investigated for allegations of sexual assault.Police finished questioning the 36-year-old comedian at around 10 a.m., at which point he told the press, “I am deeply sorry for causing concerns.”
A woman in her 20s accused Yoo of rape on April 18. The woman claimed that Yoo assaulted her at a motel in Gangnam District, southern Seoul. The woman dropped the charges against the comedian later that day, but she then changed her mind and began pursuing charges again.
When the scandal first broke, Yoo’s agency said the woman and Yoo were in a romantic relationship, but the woman denied being Yoo’s girlfriend.
Yoo has put his career on hold. The tvN reality show “Let’s Go Time Expedition” edited out parts featuring Yoo after the scandal surfaced.
The comedian used to be a regular guest on the TV show “Comedy Big League.”
