3 comedians to head up meokbang show

Three popular comedians, including Kim Sook, Jo Se-ho and Yang Se-hyung, will host a new variety program tentatively titled “Well Eating Girls.”

“We chose these three comedians as main hosts because we believe that they will be able to create synergy as a team,” said Seong Chi-gyeong, the chief producer of the program.

The new JTBC show involves meokbang (eating show) battles featuring girl group members.

The participating idol singers, who usually strictly control their appearances through diet and exercise, are expected to make exceptions for the program and show off how well they can consume food.

The three hosts’ appearance in the new show is expected to catch many viewers’ attention in that all of them are currently widely popular with the public.

Kim has recently garnered public attention for appearing in season two of the variety program “Late Marriage,” in which she partners with comedian Yoon Jung-soo as a fictional couple.

Jo has been loved by fans for his funny character since his appearance in season two of the reality show “Roommate” (2014-15).

And Yang’s popularity recently surged after appearing in several episodes of MBC’s flagship reality program, “Infinite Challenge,” as a guest in May.

The upcoming show is expected to launch in early July.
