Hyundai Motor sees increase in sales on strength of SUVs

Hyundai Motor America announced this week that the automaker experienced a significant boost in sales last month thanks to its rising sales performance of sports utility vehicles in the U.S. market.

Hyundai, together with its corporate sibling Kia Motors, sold a total of 133,932 vehicles last month retrieving sixth place in automobile manufacturers’ sales in the United States.

Hyundai Motor sold 71,006 vehicles, increasing its sales by 11.6 percent compared to same period last year. Kia Motors sold 62,926 vehicles, breaking its monthly sales record since the company entered the U.S. market in 1994.

Hyundai said its SUV models such as Hyundai Tucson, Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sedona and Kia Sportage performed well in the U.S. market compared to previous periods.
