The government’s decision to allow the deployment of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (Thaad) system in a U.S. military base in South Korea stirs up controversy in South Korea./ 주한미군 기지에 고고도미사일방어(사드) 체계를 배치하기로 정부가 결정을 하면서 논란이 일고 있다
First of all, we need to share the recognition that the issue must be dealt with as a legitimate military option to protect our national security as a sovereign state./ 무엇보다도 먼저, 우리는 주권국가로서 국가안보를 지키기 위해서 사드배치가 적절한 군사적 선택이라는 인식을 공유할 필요가 있다
North Korea went so far as to warn that it will launch a retaliation once the location of the anti-missile system is determined./ 북한은 일단 미사일방어시스템의 위치가 결정되면 보복을 감행할 것이라고 경고까지 했다

In a timely reaction, President Park Geun-hye underscored the need to prevent massive casualties when the North’s nuclear missiles hit the nation./ 박근혜 대통령이 북한이 핵미사일로 공격해 올 경우 막대한 사상자를 방지하기 위해 필요한 조치라고 강조한 것은 시의적절한 것이었다
The Thaad deployment is a very complicated issue involving diplomatic, political and ideological dimensions./ 사드 배치는 외교, 정치, 이데올로기 차원에서 매우 복잡한 문제다
Since there are many remaining questions about the deployment, the government needs to address them./ 사드 배치에 관한 여러 가지 남아 있는 의문들이 있기 때문에 정부는 그 의문들을 해결해야 할 것이다
A clash took place between ruling and opposition parties in a Monday meeting of the Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee at the National Assembly after Chairman Shim Jae-kwon from the opposition Minjoo Party vehemently opposed the deployment./ 월요일 국회에서 열린 외교통일위원회에서 민주당 심재권 위원장이 격렬하게 사드배치에 반대한다는 주장을 하는 바람에 여야 간에 충돌이 일어났다

Nevertheless, the government must not evade its responsibility to persuade the public of the necessity for the system./ 그럼에도 불구하고, 정부는 사드 시스템의 필요성에 관해 국민을 설득하는 책임을 회피해서는 안 된다
Even Saenuri Party floor leader Chung Jin-suk expressed suspicions about the lead-up to the decision./ 심지어 정진석 새누리당 원내대표가 서둘러 사드 배치가 결정된 배경에 의구심이 간다고 했다
Yoon Sang-hyun, a Park loyalist, who said the government played a strategic card too impatiently./ 친박계인 윤상현 의원도 정부가 전략적인 카드를 너무 성급하게 써버렸다고 말했다
A lot more discussions need to be made in political circles to build a national consensus on the issue./ 사드 배치 문제에 관한 국가적인 합의를 도출하기 위해 정계에서 더 많은 논의가 있어야 할 것이다
