Hong’s wife speaks out about rumors
The wife of the filmmaker Hong Sang-soo, 56, spoke out about the recent scandal involving Hong and the actress Kim Min-hee, 34, through MBC program “The Real Story Eye.”In the episode aired on Wednesday, Hong’s wife claimed that many of the rumors that have been swirling are groundless.
“Even though I did not make public comments [about the scandal], numerous media outlets released exclusive reports [that quote me],” said the wife.
“After hearing those rumors, I felt like people are writing a novel out of the story. Right now, I feel like dying.”
Local media outlets reported last month that Hong and Kim have been dating for around a year, and that Hong requested divorce from his wife.
Since Hong has remained silent about the scandal, many people have speculated about what happened, leading to many rumors.
Some include that Hong is a U.S. citizen, inherited some 100 billion won ($89 million) and married the actress in the United States.
On the show, Hong’s wife argued that Hong neither inherited such amount nor has the U.S. citizenship.
Still, the wife emphasized that “I will definitely not divorce [Hong].”
