I.O.I donates profits to Unicef

Girl group I.O.I donated 10 million won ($8,900) to Unicef, according to the group’s talent agency YMC Entertainment on Tuesday.

I.O.I promised to donate everything they earned from their showcase for their first album “Chrysalis,” released in May, and kept that promise by donating 3 million won.

The remaining 7 million was donated by their label.

The group made the promise during the showcase itself, which took place May 5. Tickets were sold for 1,000 won apiece.

I.O.I is a temporary girl group born out of the survival audition program “Produce 101,” which aired in the early part of this year. They will perform together until January 2017.
