Jung Yong-hwa and Lee Yeon-hee sign on for JTBC’s ‘The Package’

Singer-actor Jung Yong-hwa and actress Lee Yeon-hee will play lead roles in a new JTBC drama tentatively titled “The Package.”

The 12-episode drama will revolve around a group of tourists and their tour guide on a trip to France. The story will focus on the friendships among the people in the group, all of whom came on the trip for different reasons. Jung will play a man who signed up alone after being dumped by his ex. Lee will play the tour guide.

“We wish to deliver a drama that portrays the process of people connecting with each other after going through unexpected incidents,” said someone from the production team.

“We wish to focus on how these different people communicate with each other only based on the common ground of traveling.”

In addition to Jung and Lee, the drama will also feature actors Choi Woo-shik and Ryu Seung-soo and actress Ha Si-eun.

“The Package” will be completely filmed before it airs in the early part of next year.

Although Jung has been well-received as an actor, some have protested his appearance in the drama so soon after being caught in an insider trading scandal.

Jung was suspected of having earned some 200 million won in July 2015 by illegally using information from his talent agency, FNC Entertainment, which was planning to sign an exclusive contract with a popular celebrity. He was acquitted after proving he had bought FNC stock before the entertainment company initiated discussions with the popular celebrity.
