Cao Lu turns actress for MBC’s ‘Picnic’
Chinese singer Cao Lu from a K-pop girl group Fiestar will try acting for the first time in a new drama.
“Cao Lu has been confirmed to take part in a pre-produced MBC drama ‘Picnic’ [working title],” a source from the network told local media outlet Ilgan Sports, an affiliate of the Korea JoongAng Daily, on Thursday.
The singer will play a Chinese member of a girl group who many consider cute but lacks singing and dancing abilities.
The upcoming drama will revolve around an A-list male celebrity with a sensitive personality who gets stuck on an isolated island with an ordinary girl after a plane crash.
Co-stars will include singer-actress Hyeri from girl group Girl’s Day and Chan-yeol from male act Exo.
Cao Lu debuted in Fiestar on the single “Vista.”
The upcoming series is scheduled to hit the air early next year.
