Sheraton Grande Walkerhill Hotel

Ongoing: The hotel introduces Walkee (Walkerhill Exciting Explorer), a team of leisure specialists with professional licenses in yoga, pilates, swimming, forest exploration and more. The team has been created to provide a variety of leisure programs to outdoor swimming pool guests and in-house guests during their stay. The program will run daily throughout the year and at least one program is held each day. In addition to an eco-experience around Achasan Mountain, the program includes pilates and yoga lessons, along with beginner swimming lessons.

Leisure specialists were introduced to entertain guests with many activities, as demands for local “staycations” increase over time, especially during the vacation period. Similar programs are common at hotels or resorts at Jeju Island. Meanwhile, Walkerhill Hotel becomes the first five-star hotel that has implemented such programs for guests. Based on participant response, numbers and programs will vary.

JW Marriott Hotel Seoul

To Aug. 29: JW Marriott Hotel Seoul, in the city’s Seocho district, presents Charm, Luxury Delights at JW, a promotion inspired by Korean snacks. Charm, Luxury Delights at JW comes as part of Taste the Tradition, a promotion designed to introduce local traditional food cultures of select Marriott International properties in the Asia-Pacific region. Other participating hotels include JW Marriott hotels in New Delhi and Mumbai, India; Hangzhou, China; and Macau. Each hotel will serve a menu of traditional dishes representing its country’s food culture. A new website (http://jwmarriott.proj.ec/kr/taste-the-tradition/Seoul) has been created for the promotion, introducing each dish and the chef’s story behind it. Charm, Luxury Delights at JW features four Korean traditional afternoon tea sets conceived by Chef Park Seung-il, head of Korean cuisine at the hotel and a chef with 22 years’ experience. Park based the four tea courses on recipes he learned from his grandmother. The four courses include 1. Makgeolli cocktail with hwajeon (pan-fried rice cake) with azalea, chrysanthemum and other edible flower petals; 2. Jipyeong makgeolli or buckwheat tea with sanjeok kebabs and beef and vegetable roll; 3. Ginseng tea and yanggaeng jelly with ginseng, figs and sweet potato; 4. omija tea or sujeonggwa (persimmon and cinnamon punch) with rice cakes. The promotion runs every Monday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Lobby Lounge at JW Marriott Hotel Seoul, with afternoon tea served on ceramics by Kwangjuyo, a contemporary kiln continuing the evolution of traditional Korean kiln culture. Afternoon tea sets are 39,000 won ($36) per person (including tax and service charge).

JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul

To Sept. 30: Combine a treatment at Provence Spa by L’Occitane with a swim in the indoor swimming pool through the “Swim & Spa Promotion.” This offer combines a 60-minute Aromachologie Body Massage and the 30-minute Express Aromachologie Rebalancing Facial for 90 minutes followed by a dip in the hotel’s indoor pool.

The Aromachologie Body Massage uses lavender, tea tree & geranium essential oils to impart a sense of relaxation and coax both mind and body into a secure state. It combines Swedish, Hawaiian Lomi Lomi and foot massage techniques and any one of the Aromachologie Revitalizing Massages. From there, the Express Aroma Facial - a special treatment not normally included on the list of facials - detoxifies, cleanses and soothes as well as brings back balance to skin exposed to ultraviolet rays during the hot summer days. The special will be offered Monday through Thursday in addition to access to the hotel swimming pool, normally reserved exclusively for hotel members and guests. The promotion price starts at 242,000 won ($222) for the package and spa treatments begin at 220,000 won (which includes tax and service charge).

“This exciting new ‘Swim & Spa Promotion’ starts with a subtle lavender-scented Aromachologie treatment and pairs it with use of our luxurious hotel swimming pool to offer guest the ideal opportunity to rid themselves of pent up mental and physical exhaustion from this brutal summer heat. Don’t worry about the stress of travel and instead join friends and loved ones for a true escape,” a hotel representative said.
