The agency attributes its inaccurate forecasts to the high pressure in the North Pacific Ocean and an inflow of hot air from China./ 기상청은 북태평양 고기압과 중국발 더운 공기 유입 등이 정확한 폭염예측을 어렵게 한다고 말하고 있다
Didn’t KMA introduce a super computer costing a whopping 53.2 billion won ($47.2 million) earlier this year to accurately analyze such diverse factors and present correct weather forecasts?/ 기상청은 그런 변수를 반영해 정밀하게 기상을 분석하겠다며 올 해초 532억원이나 들여 슈퍼컴퓨터를 도입하지 않았는가?
We must hold such an irresponsible agency accountable for its past mistakes./ 실수에 책임을 져야 할 무책임한 기상청을 이대로 둬선 안 된다
This calls for a colossal revamp./ 전면적인 쇄신이 필요하다
The government must introduce a system using real names in order to allow weathermen to take responsibility for their incorrect predictions./ 정부는 부정확한 예보에 대해 예보관에게 책임을 묻는 예보 실명제를 도입해야 한다
Also, the government must change the current rotation-based job assignments and instead pick qualified staff solely for weather forecasting./ 또한 정부는 현재의 순환 보직제를 고쳐서 기상예측을 전문으로 하는 실력이 검증된 직원을 뽑아야 한다
Weathermen who habitually produce inaccurate forecasts must be fired./ 상습적으로 부정확한 예보를 하는 예보관은 퇴출시켜야 한다
Unless the KMA adopts a rigid work culture, it doesn’t deserve taxpayers’ money./ 기상청이 엄격한 직장문화를 조성하지 않는 한 귀중한 세금을 사용할 자격이 없다
