British American Tobacco names new chief in Korea

The Korean unit of British America Tobacco (BAT) appointed Tony Hayward as its new CEO, the company said Tuesday.

Hayward was previously regional head of finance for BAT Americas.

A 17-year veteran, Hayward joined the British tobacco company as financial accounting manager in the Southampton, U.K. factory. He then moved to Egypt, followed by positions in Romania and Poland.

“BAT Korea, including the Sacheon Factory, is considered a strategically important market in our group,” he said.

Former CEO Erik Stoel has been appointed as CEO of BAT Malaysia.
