MAMAMOO ready to drop single ‘New York’

The female act MAMAMOO will release a new digital single entitled “New York.”

The group announced the Sept. 21 release on their official Twitter on Monday.

The teaser image showed the member’s stylistic urban transformation, reminiscent of grunge fashion, with special attention given to their radical new hairstyles.

The group recently held their first two-day solo concert in Aug. 13, and released their MAMAMOO sub-unit tracks, “Angel” and “DAB DAB,” two weeks later.

Their agency, Rainbow Bridge World, said, “All releases and events since August have been leading up to the official release in October. Their sub-unit songs, as well as ‘New York,’ have been planned in advance. Fans are have a good time speculating the comeback using subtle clues hidden in each release.”

The pop act debuted in 2014 with the digital single “Mr. Ambiguous,” winning the New Artist of the Year award at the Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards.

They are known for their strong vocals as well as jazzy and retro album concepts.
