2016 Gangnam Festival kicks off on Friday
The 2016 Gangnam Festival will arrive on Friday, featuring special K-pop performances and fashion shows.The fifth annual festivities to be held near Apgujeong Rodeo Street in Gangnam, Seoul, will return with a variety of shopping and fashion related events for four days starting on Sept. 28. K-pop acts such as SHINee, 2PM, INFINITE, CNBLUE, Wonder Girls, Girls’ Day, Apink and more will appear to perform at the opening ceremony, which will be broadcasted live on the KBS music program, “Music Bank” to 120 countries worldwide.
Some of the main attractions of the event include the Gangnam Fashion Festival (Oct. 1-3), International Peace Marathon (Oct. 3), Global Master Chefs’ Food Festival (Oct. 3), and the Gangnam Grand Sale (Sept. 29- Oct. 31).
The 30-day sale event in particular will provide an opportunity to save up to 80 percent in discounts at up to 400 participating stores including malls, hotels, and restaurants.
Gangnam District Office Head Shin Yeon-hee said, “With our diversified events such as K-pop, fashion, cuisine, and many other attractions, we hope that our festival will be able to become the nation’s most well-known tourism festival for visitors.”
