Korean-Chinese variety show put on hold

Production of the joint Korean-Chinese variety program “Star Descent,” which was to be hosted by comedian Kang Ho-dong and singer Leeteuk of Super Junior, has been revealed to have been suspended.

Kang’s agency SM C&C said on Thursday, “The production for the show was halted by the Chinese staff, and the reason why is still unclear.”

The variety show was supposed to feature various Korean and Chinese celebrities working together in an ordinary office environment, and focus on cultural exchanges shared between each other. The program was supposed to have filmed 12 episodes which were to be aired in July.

The show previously made headlines for being Kang’s first venture on a Chinese variety show, on the Chinese broadcasting channel Shandong Television.

Some of the Korean celebrities that have filmed for the program included girl group Girls’ Generation member Hyoyeon, actor Jin Goo, actor Park Si-hoo, and comedian Ji Suk-jin.
