나는 24시간 내내 휴대전화를 사용하는데, 그래서 빛의 속도로 배터리가 닳는다. 나는 이메일, 최신 기사, SNS 게시물들을 자세히 읽는다. 하지만 이렇게 읽는 것들을 모두 합쳐 봐야 동영상을 봐서 배터리가 소모되는 양에는 비할 바가 아니다. 한번은 친구를 기다리다가 휴대전화로 TV 프로그램을 보기 시작했다. 놀랄 일도 아니지만, 휴대전화에는 경고 메시지가 떴다. 배터리가 5퍼센트밖에 남지 않았다는 것이다. 다행히 휴대전화가 꺼지기 전에 친구가 나에게 전화를 걸었다. 우리가 전화를 끊고 몇 분도 되지 않아 친구가 휴대용 배터리를 가져와서 나를 구해 주었다. 나 혼자 난처하게 남지 않아서 다행이었다.
Talk about when your cellphone ran out of battery.
I am on my phone 24/7, which tends to drain my battery at lightning speed. I peruse e-mail(s), the latest headlines, and social media posts. However, the collective act of reading doesn’t even come close to what video clips do to a smartphone’s battery life. Waiting for a friend, I had started watching a TV show on my phone. To no one’s surprise, my phone signaled a warning. It informed me that I had just five percent left on my battery. Thankfully, my friend gave me a ring before my phone died. Just a few minutes after we hung up, she came to my rescue with a portable battery. I was so glad I wasn’t left hanging.
