Han Seung-yeon nabs lead role

Singer turned actress Han Seung-yeon will appear in a lead role in the upcoming short film “Frame in Love.”

The short, which is directed by Lee Won-jun, is a romantic tale about two lovers that struggle to keep their love outside of their “frame.” Han will take on the role of the female protagonist Ji-sun, which is a more mature role than the actress with a bubbly image has played before.

She will star alongside actor Lee Hak-joo. The casting for the film was rounded out by actors Yoon Sung-won, Kim Young-hwan, Lee Jae-won and Kim Ho-won.

Han recently finished filming her role in the JTBC drama “Age of Youth,” which won her the Hallyu Star Award at the Korea Drama Awards ceremony on Friday.

Han originally debuted as a member of the girl group Kara in 2007 with their first single “Break It.” The group found mainstream success with the release of their second studio album “Revolution,” which contained their biggest hit “Mister” in 2009. Its members have since gone off to pursue solo careers.
